Good luck to the Fighting Artichoke Men’s Golf Team, as they leave to compete in the NJCAA National Tournament starting on May 15th in Newton, Kansas.  The tournament will run through Friday May 18th.  The team members include Jake Allen, Jamie Cartwright, Stephen Cook, Dustin Dalzell, Mitchell Holmes, Austin Mote, Michael Repek, Mathew Salmon, Zachary Sardina and Keenan Steele.

Congratulations to head coach Dan Dersam and the Fighting Artichokes Men’s Golf Team for winning the 2012 Region Championship!  The team won all four days of play to wrap up the championship.

Jake Allen led the team with a four day total of 285, good enough for a second place finish in the region.  Dustin Dalzell was right behind with a 289 and Zachary Sardina finished fourth with a four day total of 291 strokes.  Jamie Cartwright finished 5th with a total of 294 and Stephen Cook rounded out the team’s performance with a 7th place finish.

The SCC Golf team sits in first place after the first day of region play.  The team posted a team score of 286, 24 strokes ahead of 2nd place Pima CC.

Congratulations to SCC’s Jake Allen, who scored a 1 under par to win the Mesa Tournament over the weekend.  The team finished second overall to South Mountain. The Artichokes placed 4 golfers placed in the top 15 of the tournament.

The  Regional Tournament starts on April 26th at Gold Canyon Sidewinder.  Good luck to the team as they pursue the region championship.

The SCC Men’s Golf team won the Eastern Arizona College Tournament, posting a team total score of 303 strokes.  Jamie Cartwright carded a two-over 74, while Stephen Cook was one stroke behind with an impressive 75.

3/23/12

SCC Golf results from Gateway tournament:

The SCC Golf Team placed 2nd in the tournament.  The leading individual scorers were:

Jamie Cartwright, 2 round total of 145,  tied for 3rd place.

Mitchell Holmes 2 round total of 147, finished in 7th place.

Dustin Dalzell and Stephen Cook  both tied for 15th place

The five golfers for SCC finished in the top 20 for the first time this season.

The SCC Golf team finished 2nd at the Chandler-Gilbert tournament over the weekend.  Freshman Steven Cook led the Chokes with a two-round total of 144, good enough for a fourth place finish overall.  Mitchell Holmes and Dustin Dalzell finished 8th  and 11th respectively.

The SCC Golf team played their way to a 3rd place finish in the Glendale CC tournament over the weekend. Freshman Jamie Cartwright shot a two over par 146, good enough for an individual third place finish in the event. Mitchell Holmes and Stephen Cook tied for 11th place.

2/15/12

Here are the results form the SMCC Golf Tournament.  The team finished second with a team score of 595.  Congratulations to Jacob Allen for finishing in a tie for fourth place with a two-day total of 144.

The SCC Athletic Department today announced the 2012 Golf schedule.  the first match of the year will be February 13th-14th at the Legacy Golf Club.  For more information, please see the full schedule on the schedules page.
